Fractions Year 2

$68.00

A continuation of Fractions Year 1. Exploring fractional relationships, discovering patterns, playing games, and making art.

Description

**This is a Digital Product**

Fractions Year 2 continues the work from Fractions Year 1 with more focus on equivalent fractions. Several exercises reinforce the work for equivalent fractions and their use. In these 72 pages, fractional relationships of the rods are studied, as well as some practice of the four processes with fractions. Finding least common multiples is applied to add and subtract fractions with different denominators. Several art projects are incorporated including an expansion of Year 1’s origami exercise. Games are played to expand understanding fractional relationships, particularly with equivalent fractions, and to create fractional number sense. Several support videos are included with this curricula:

• Fractions Origami
• Equivalent Fractions with the Rods
• Adding with Like Denominators
• Fraction Games
• Comparing Fractions with the Rods
• Construction of the Fractions Board
• Adding with Unlike Denominators
• Fraction Game
• Multiplying Fractions
• Dividing Fractions

Supplies needed are similar to the supplies for my other units. The colored cardstock is an addition that must be added for the circle explorations. During the introduction, these manipulatives will be made by you and your child. It’s important to keep these for the subsequent years of learning fractions. The following supplies are from affiliate links. You may also find them at Waldorf shops such as A Child’s Dream and Bella Luna Toys.

• Cuisenaire rods
• Colored paper
• 100-block multiplication table
• Block crayons
• Colored pencils
• Stamp pads
• Sidewalk chalk
• Sketchpad or notebook (I suggest spiral bound. We use a Stratford’s 9 X 12 sketchbook.
